Remember That New Year’s Resolution?

Remember January and all those nifty goals you set for yourself as you saw the new year spreading out before you with hope and promise?

Wait, did I see you roll your eyes?

Seriously, if you want to see change, it’s time to take a look at where you’re at with those resolutions.

Here is a way to take stock and get back on track:

Beware of resolution busters:

  • Intention: If you already reached your goal but you treated your resolution food choices and exercise habits as a diet, you may be in danger of reverting to your old ways.
  • Complacency: If you reached your goal and start to rest on your laurels, you may be at risk! Sneaky, unhealthy behaviors may start to creep back in and undo the good that you’ve done.
  • Discouragement: If you didn’t reach your goal and you hit a road block that impeded your progress, you may be at risk for giving up and failing to begin again.

Here’s how to overcome those traps and keep going:

Bring some action back to your plan:

With the rigorous honesty,  write about the following:

  1. What I learned about my food choices and habits during the initial days of working on my New Year’s Resolutions:
  2. What I learned about my exercise preferences and habits during the initial days of working on my New Year’s Resolutions:
  3. What habits do I want to return to as a result of what I learned:
  4. What resources do I need to restart or maintain my commitment to my goals:

Resources to help:

Enjoy the journey to a healthier you!
